Institutional Accreditation

Institutional accreditation is a mark of quality. Strict standards in areas such as degree programs, courses, faculty, administration, and student support and services must be met in order to qualify for and receive accreditation.

Accreditation also ensures that courses taken and degrees earned through Liberty University will be accepted by other institutions that are also accredited by an agency that is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS)

Liberty University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) to award associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees.

Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools (TRACS)

Liberty University is accredited by the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools (TRACS) to award associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees.

State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV)

Program Accreditation and Approval

Nursing
Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing programs are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Health Professions Board of Nursing (VBN)

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing programs are approved by the Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Health Professions Board of Nursing (VBN).

Teacher Education
Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI)

In addition to state licensure, students who complete the Teacher Licensure Program at Liberty are eligible for the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) certificate.
