The University of Advancing Technology (UAT) started out in 1983 as a computer-aided design (CAD) systems consulting company and high-end computer manufacturer. Since then, UAT has evolved into a nationally recognized leader in technology education.
UAT has evolved from a computer training school into an accredited senior-level college that provides training and education in multimedia, animation, interactive media, Internet technologies, computer programming, network engineering, Internet administration, software engineering, computer aided design, animation and game design. The University offers accredited associate's, bachelor's and graduate degrees. The Professional Development Center offers corporate tech training, certification, and continuing education in these same areas as well.

A Structured Courseload
As a UAT-Online student, you'll advance through classes in a defined path that ensures you earn your degree on schedule and in logical progression. The skills you will learn will be reinforced and expanded as you develop complex, polished final projects.
Every assignment is geared toward your degree program. Regardless of the course, assignments will typically be due by Sunday and responses to discussions will be due by Thursday. This regular pace ensures that UAT-Online students succeed by planning around a predictable schedule. At the beginning of each course, students will receive their course outlines with all assignments laid out for the course so that they will be able to plan out their learning activities.
The format encourages students to function as part of a team -- a vital skill for anyone who wants to succeed in the technology field. Students will also get their hands on industry-standard toolsets and techniques. Unlike other schools that focus narrowly on software skills, the classes will encourage creative and design skills.
Student post their work up on the Web and/or email the work to their teachers. For example, students can scan in artwork and email the images to their teacher, or post their art up on the Web to receive feedback from other students.
Be aware: online courses are more dependent on assignments and activities than some traditional lecture classes. After all, education at UAT is all about hands-on application of the knowledge that is shared by teachers and other students. An online course might require as much, if not more time and commitment than traditional courses because of the heavier emphasis on assignments. And students may find that they need to be online almost every day to catch up with posted comments by other students and the teacher, new assignments and collaborative activities.
